EC3 Bids Farewell to Rachel

For the past 14 years, Rachel (Erickson/Davies) Vulgaris has been a steadfast and much-loved teacher at EC3. She started out as a part-time assistant while pursuing credentials in the field. Rachel quickly worked her way up to lead teacher in the "Duck" room, which was EC3's student teaching laboratory for Lansing Community College. After LCC opened their own center, Rachel continued the high-quality teaching and fun-loving atmosphere in the renamed Bluegill room, helping hundreds of children grow in preparation for kindergarten and beyond. So it is with much fond sadness that we bid farewell to Rachel; she is leaving EC3 in order to attend her infant daughter, whose health concerns preclude her from group care. We are ever-hopeful that one day Rachel will return to EC3 and continue her fun and effective legacy. If you want to contact Rachel to wish her well, her email address is rachel@ec3kids.org.

Summer Camp Registration is OPEN

Don’t delay--we’re ready to enroll kids for EC3’s summer camp! Children who have completed kindergarten through fourth grade are eligible to participate in EC3’s summer camp. From June 13th through September 1st, this year’s version promises to be one of the best ever, with themed weeks such as “Mad Scientist,” “Master Builders,” and “Sports Fanatics.” By early May we will have a detailed calendar of field trips available. You can read more about it and download the schedule and registration form on EC3’s website: http://ec3kids.org/camp.

Ultimate Birthday Party Gift Guide

The ladies over at Cool Mom Picks have compiled The Ultimate Birthday Party Gift Guide, which has more than 100 of the coolest birthday gifts for kids of all ages. Beyond the old standards, such as play kitchens and Legos, they highlight items such as personalized flash cards, handmade dinosaur block toys, and a cardboard food truck play set. If you are searching for the perfect gift for a youngster, this is a great resource! http://bit.ly/1Gk2cJs

Guest Readers for Reading Month

We are inviting all of our EC3 parents and grandparents to come in and read to the classrooms in honor of Reading Month! The children and teachers love hearing new books and seeing all the enthusiasm for reading. If you haven’t already, talk with your child’s teacher about finding a time to read. And if we have any EC3 graduates who would like to come back and read to their former classrooms, let us know!

Awesome Anticipation About April’s Auction

Only seven weeks until EC3’s biggest family event! The annual fundraising auction is also one of the most enjoyable events—there’s something for everyone in the family! Adults (current parents, past parents, and their relatives and friends) can browse the silent auction tables, enjoy some free pizza and salad, purchase treats from the bake sale for dessert, and bid on great items (including the classroom artwork) during the live auction. Children of enrolled families (infant through age 12) can either stay with their parents or have a pizza party with their friends and play in a classroom with child care provided—no charge! Please mark your calendar for Friday, April 22nd, 5:45 to 8:00 p.m. to support this community effort!

Choosing to send both of my children to EC3 was one of, if not the best decision I have ever made as a parent.
