Time Change this Weekend: Set Clocks Back One Hour

Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend. Before you go to bed Saturday night, set your clocks back one hour.

Halloween Fun!

Today is the last day to participate in our Guess the Ghoul and Candy Corn Guessing games. Winners will be announced on Monday.

Guess the Ghoul – We’ll have pictures of EC3 staffers as children: can you identify them? The person who gets the most correct answers will win a Biggby gift card!

Candy Corn Guessing Game – Always a crowd favorite! Guess how many candy corn are in the jar and win a Biggby gift card.

Halloween Parade and Parties Today!

EC3’s Halloween parade and class parties are today. A couple of last minute reminders:

* The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. – weather permitting.
* DON’T bring your child dressed in his/her costume this morning; rather, send children’s costumes with them (no weapons, please)--staff members will dress them after nap/quiet-time.
* DON’T come into the building prior to the parade (3:30 p.m.), but wait outside for the children to come out. If the weather is bad, there will be no parade – just head in to your child’s classroom at 3:30 for the party.
* DO find parking along the streets in the neighborhood once the parking lot is full.
* DON’T block any driveways—our neighbors are our friends!

Fall Conferences

Individual classrooms will be scheduling times within the next month for parent-teacher conferences. Fall Conferences are one of the most important opportunities we have to communicate and collaborate about your child’s growth and development.

You may be wondering – why bother attending a parent-teacher conference?

  • To establish or renew a positive working relationship with teachers that will be the foundation for your work together for the rest of the year.
  • To give teachers your parental insight, providing them a fuller picture of who your child is both in and out of the classroom.
  • To hear specific information about how your child is developing in each of the six developmental domains.
  • To review your child’s Work Sampling Portfolio, which contains evidence of your child’s learning achievements.
  • To ask questions about how your child interacts with other students at school.
  • To determine goals for further learning.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to have some one-on-one time with your child’s teacher. We thank you for your involvement and look forward to seeing each of you at conferences!

Mark Your Calendar - School Selection Expo

EC3 is hosting a School Selection Expo on Thursday, November 12th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This will be an opportunity for parents to educate themselves about the different school options in the area for kindergarten and beyond. Check back in the coming weeks for more information and to RSVP.

Election Day

Tuesday, November 3rd is Election Day. It's important to let children see democracy in action--so take your kids to the polls this Election Day. Check out the following link for a great list of books that offer the opportunity to teach youngsters about character, leadership, and the meaning of participatory government.

Weekend Family Fun

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, families will have a whole day to celebrate before the evening festivities. One way to help keep the kiddos busy is to get out the crayons, glue, and glitter and create some Halloween art. Check out EC3’s Pinterest page for great Halloween craft activities!

Pumpkinfest – Potter Park Zoo
Sunday, November 1st from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
