Auction Tonight!!!

The excitement has been building, and the time has finally come – the EC3 Fundraising Auction is tonight! Whether this is your first EC3 auction or you’ve been to several, we’d like to help manage your expectations so everybody has a great time!

Tuition Giveaway & Cash Raffle – Need Not Be Present To Win!

Due to popular demand, you can purchase tickets to win a week of tuition even if you can’t stay until the end of the auction for the drawing! Tickets are only $25 each, and you can purchase as many as you like. And there are still tickets available for the cash-giveaway raffle at the beginning of the live auction. Tickets are only $15 each or two for $25, and you could win $100, $250, or $500 cash! Tickets can be billed directly to your account.

Skip The Checkout Line—Put Auction Purchases On Account!

We’re streamlining the auction checkout experience to get you home more quickly after the auction! When you register and get your bidder number, you can tell us to bill your account for any purchases you make related to the auction. Bake sale, silent auction, live auction, EC-Plea: we’ll tally it all up on Monday, then provide you with a receipt and charge the amount directly to your account as a fundraising donation. If you prefer to pay the night of the auction (cash, check, or credit card), we’ll be happy to accommodate you!

Child Care

Children must be registered in advance for child care during the auction. (If you’re coming and you haven’t signed up the kids, please reply to this message and let me know so I can get them on the list.) If your children are already at EC3 and you intend to stay for the auction, please do NOT go to their room and visit them first; this typically creates some “attachment confusion” for young children.

Parking

The EC3 auction is heavily attended. Please take special care that you don’t park your car in somebody’s driveway, or in such a way to block any portion of their driveway. You are also welcome to park carefully on our east lawn, or in the parking lot of the West Lansing Church of God.

Registration

Everyone who attends is expected to register and get a program with a bidder number. Even if you don’t intend to bid on the auction items, we need to get an accurate count of attendees for safety purposes. If you didn’t already register this morning, please do so on your way in tonight.

Be Prepared

Scout all the auction items in advance by viewing the program (download it at http://ec3kids.org/ec3-auction). The lists for both the live auction and the silent auction are posted for download so you can start making your strategic shopping plans!

Whether you come to make purchases or simply enjoy a fun evening, we’re glad to have you as part of the EC3 family!

Mark Your Calendar – Kindergarten Readiness Forum

Parents with preschoolers who are scheduled to go to kindergarten in the fall should plan to attend EC3’s Kindergarten Readiness Forum on Thursday, May 7th at 5:00 p.m. Look for more information next week!

Month of the Young Child, Week 3 Focus: Cognitive Development

Brain development research affirms what EC3 parents have known for years: 1) good prenatal care, 2) warm and loving attachments between young children and adults, and 3) positive stimulation from the time of birth makes a difference in children’s development for a lifetime. Early experiences contribute significantly to the structure of the brain. The quality, quantity, and consistency of stimulation determine how the brain connects and functions; this is true for cognitive and emotional development, and the effect is lifelong.
* Experience wires the brain; repetition strengthens the wiring.
* The sense of touch helps children to ground abstract ideas in concrete experiences.
* When children exercise, they build muscles and boost brain power.
* Preschoolers need 9-10 hours of sleep each day. During sleep, the brain processes the day’s information, strengthening memories and rehearsing tasks.

Harold and the Purple Crayon – Wharton Center
Sunday, April 19th at 1:30 & 4:00 p.m.
“One evening, after thinking it over for some time, Harold decided to go for a walk in the moonlight...”
So begins Harold and the Purple Crayon, which follows the zany adventures of an inventive young boy. As it turned out, there wasn’t any moon that night, nor was there a path to walk on...so Harold simply drew them! And thus his journey began. Resourceful and brave, Harold creates the world he wants to explore, using nothing more than a big purple crayon and his “sky’s-the-limit” imagination. The return of Enchantment Theatre Company’s production will take you on a wild ride as Harold jets to Mars, joins a circus, and meets a king in an enchanted garden. http://bit.ly/1OHxk7c
